The Commonwell Insurance Company provided funding for a $69000 project to purchase and erect a 30 ft by 48 ft, High Tunnel Greenhouse including an off-grid Solar System to power the Greenhouse

Canada Summer Jobs
In 2022 CSJ funded 4 students for 8 weeks each to work in the community garden. Salary and benefits package was $18755. This was topped up with an additional supplement provided by SLCG.


2023
Lanark County
In 2023 Lanark County provided SLCG with a grant of $5000 to hire a half time worker in the May/June and Sept/Oct timeframe. In addition this person's salary was supplemented through private donations.
2024
Perth & District Community Foundation
In 2024, P&DCF provided SLCG with $8959.77 for the purchase of a BCS walk-behind, 2 wheel tractor with the tiller attachment to be used in the tilling of beds in the garden. This greatly simplified the process of preparing beds for use each year. It also enabled SLCG to train volunteers to take on the responsibility of operating the machine. Not only did this address a need but it is fostering knowledge transfer to the community at large.


2024
Carrot Cache Toronto
In 2024, the Carrot Cache of Toronto provided the SLCG with funding in the amount of $2500 for the partial purchase of a Rinaldi Power Harrow attachment for the BCS. This attachment has enables the minimum tillage of the bed surface without disturbing the underlying microorganisms living in the soil. The balance estimated at $2700 was paid through funds raised by SLCG.
2024
Canada Summer Jobs
In 2024, CSJ funded SLCG for 3 positions in the amount of $15284. SLCG provided supplementary funding for the jobs. An additional $15000 was donated to extend one of these positions so that it provided garden coverage from May through November.


2025
Canada Summer Jobs
In 2025 CSJ provided SLCG with a grant of $16060 to hire 3 workers for 8 weeks. In addition these salaries were supplemented by SLCG through private donations.

Perth & District Community Foundation
In 2025, P&DCF provided SLCG with $5000 grant to extend the contract of our head gardener whose work this summer was essential to keeping the garden growing, supervising our summer students and engaging the volunteers.


2026
Lanark County
In 2026, the Lanark County Community Grants Selection Committee approved a grant of $3025 for the purchase and installation of a propane heater and germination table in the greenhouse. This heater purchase will greatly enhance our ability to operate a small portion of the greenhouse throughout the late fall, winter and early spring.

In 2026, CSJ provided minimum wage funding in the amount of $15284 to SLCG for 3 student positions of 8 weeks each. SLCG provided additional supplementary funding to top up the salaries for these jobs.

In 2026 P&DCF provided a grant of $15000 to SLCG to ensure that SLCG could hire a garden manager level person to cover the summer and fall period of the garden operation. This grant facilitated a strong, worker presence in the garden.
