Volunteers

Our Volunteers are the most valuable resource that the South Lanark Community Garden has.  SLCG is a completely volunteer based and operated organization.  Without the volunteers, SLCG would cease to function. SLCG has many different areas where you could focus the donation of  your services; eg contributing a shift of 3 hours per week in the garden helping with the myriad of tasks that occur each day, or by working in the greenhouse or by helping to manage our watering system, our composting system, our grounds keeping, or by preparing and delivering fresh produce to clients of the garden, or by helping and mentoring others who have lesser skills to work in the garden or by supporting our web and social media sites or by helping to manage and  grow our volunteer ranks.

Our volunteers

  • develop friendships with fellow gardeners in the garden

  • they enjoy the sense of community developed in the garden

  • they enjoy getting their hands in the soil

  • they enjoy learning and sharing gardening skills

  • they enjoy eating fresh produce of the garden which is freely given to them as volunteers

  • and our volunteers who are high school students can earn high school volunteer credits

We would love to have you come and join us whether for a specific project or on a weekly three hour shift. You are welcome to come on out to the garden for visit. Please contact us.
